Contact Info for the Miccosukee Tribe

Because I get this question ALL THE TIME!!!

If you want to contact the Miccosukee Tribe, the best way is to send your letters of inquiry, in duplicate, to all 5 members of the MICCOSUKEE BUSINESS COUNCIL:

The Honorable Colley Billie, Chairman
The Honorable Roy Cypress, Jr., Assistant Chairman
The Honorable Gabriel K. Osceola, Secretary
The Honorable Jerry L. Cypress, Treasurer
The Honorable William M. Osceola, Lawmaker

Miccosukee Business Council
Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida
Post Office Box 440021
Miami, Florida  33144

For general information, you can view the Tribe's main website:
www.Miccosukee.com
-- but I will warn you now, the landing page is heavily swayed to the main enterprise of the Tribe, which is Gaming.  I am critical that the first online images that the public sees of the Miccosukee Tribe are Gaming promotions.  I feel that the first images the public sees should represent the values of the society of clans:  culture, environment, history, family.

The main phone number to the Miccosukee Tribe is:  1-305-223-8380.

Hello,

I am a Cherokee Veteran of Iraq and current graduate student (Counseling Psychology Program), who is carrying out a survey on Native American veterans, and their perceptions of and attitudes towards Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. This survey has met exemption criteria from Washington State University’s Institutional Review Board. It is my belief that if we as Native people speak as a group through this survey, places that provide veteran services for PTSD like the V.A. and I.H.S. will listen and will add our suggestions and preferences for treatment/healing to programs intended to help Native Veterans. I am asking for your assistance in spreading the word about our survey among the veterans in your tribe, friends from the service or any other interested groups or individuals.

The survey is open to anyone who is Native American and who has served in the military. They do not need to have been deployed or to have PTSD to participate in the survey. Below is a letter with more information about the survey and a link to the online version of the survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/nativeveterans). Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Greg Urquhart

Hello,
We would like to request your participation with a survey for Native American veterans who may have experienced combat-related stress or know others who have. Our intent with this survey is to increase the body of knowledge about Native American veterans and their attitudes and perceptions towards PTSD and its treatment. This information will contribute to increasing the body of knowledge about Native American Veterans. Your answers on the survey will be helpful to us in achieving this goal. The Washington State University Institutional Review Board has certified the study as meeting exempt status. All participants and their responses will be kept confidential.
The research team includes graduate students in counseling psychology at Washington State University, several of whom are Native American veterans and individuals experienced in working with veterans and Native American veterans. This study is being supervised by Dr. Phyllis Erdman, Professor in counseling psychology at Washington State University. We are interested in this area because of our personal experience with military service and a commitment to helping those who may suffer from the effects of combat.
We appreciate your time and thank you in advance for your help. Also, if you know of others who may be interested in this survey please feel free to forward the link to them. Please click below to access the survey. If you have questions regarding this request, you may contact Greg Urquhart at (greg.urquhart@wsu.edu).

Sincerely,

Greg Urquhart

Mikatuye Oyasin, wishing you prosperity and joy. I am reaching out because my physical embodiment presided in Florida for nearly 20 years, and I did not ask to visit the reservation. I accepted the brainwashing from America school systems and I want to apologize. I’ll be flying back to Florida to grab my car to drive out west to Mito Timila if permission is granted. You are so beautiful. You are the love of this land. You protect and do not defend. You are peace and love. You put your lives down for this land and not only for its people. I would say this is selflessness, but your love and prosperity is entirely rooted within the self and flows outwards. I am heartbroken to know that my own ancestors and my own blood 🩸 is the cause of this beautiful land, turtle island, not America, to be used as a source of greed. I’m asking my inner guide for forgiveness and you as well. Mikatuye Oyasin Mikatuye Oyasin Mikatuye Oyasin. - “James Nieporte” milis a bhith or “sweet being”

I am graduating with a Masters degree in nonprofit management. My focus is to help and advocate for indigenous people and the environment. I was hoping.. I have been unsuccessful gaining feedback on issues concerning the indigenous people (environmental issues, education or lack there of, health, and vanishing culture of Indigenous people. Can someone help? I need feedback from three indigenous people.

Here are the five questions:

Ill need name and native origin or tribe you belong to.

1. What is the most critical issue facing Indigenous People of America today? (or other countries)
2. What the greatest concerns with regard to indigenous culture and its steady decline?
3. What do you think should be done concerning tribal lands and continued assaults on indigenous grounds?
4. What is the main concern about the education system or lack thereof for indigenous children?
5. Where do indigenous people need the most assistance?

Thank you for anyone reading this that can assist.

Friend of Indigenous Peoples,
Teresa
