NE2SS = NorthEast Two-Spirit Society:  http://www.ne2ss.org/

There are quite a few Two-Spirit and LGBT organizations that serve the indigenous community spread out across Turtle Island, AKA North America.

I have a lot of respect for the NorthEast Two-Spirit Society because it was when they hosted the 25th International Two-Spirit Gathering last year in Wading River, New York, that I first made friends with this community of amazing, caring, and talented people.

NE2SS has compiled a fabulous Directory of Resources that includes books, films, and contact information for these organizations across the land.

I'm including the document here, but you can find a lot more information on their website.  Make sure to check them out.

Contact Info for the Miccosukee Tribe

Because I get this question ALL THE TIME!!!

If you want to contact the Miccosukee Tribe, the best way is to send your letters of inquiry, in duplicate, to all 5 members of the MICCOSUKEE BUSINESS COUNCIL:

The Honorable Colley Billie, Chairman
The Honorable Roy Cypress, Jr., Assistant Chairman
The Honorable Gabriel K. Osceola, Secretary
The Honorable Jerry L. Cypress, Treasurer
The Honorable William M. Osceola, Lawmaker

Miccosukee Business Council
Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida
Post Office Box 440021
Miami, Florida  33144

For general information, you can view the Tribe's main website:
www.Miccosukee.com
-- but I will warn you now, the landing page is heavily swayed to the main enterprise of the Tribe, which is Gaming.  I am critical that the first online images that the public sees of the Miccosukee Tribe are Gaming promotions.  I feel that the first images the public sees should represent the values of the society of clans:  culture, environment, history, family.

The main phone number to the Miccosukee Tribe is:  1-305-223-8380.

Star Gala 2013:  Honoring Luther Campbell

I've been a member of the Film, Recording & Entertainment Council since 2006.  This economic development organization is concerned with cultivating business leads and community for those that work in the entertainment industry.

Otter Vision has been sponsoring FREC's annual Star Gala event since I first associated with the group.  It's been an honor and privilege to work with such professionals as Miguel Bravo, Victoria Mohnblatt, and many others from the organizations various committees.

My association with FREC has brought me business, and referred me to very talented people that I went on to hire for my various projects.

Pecha Kucha Miami:  Two-Spirit Then & Now

My presentation was about Two-Spirit traditions and people that have been noted in the historical record.  It touched briefly on how the Two-Spirit identity only makes sense in an Indigenous context, and is more concerned with a Gender Analysis, rather than simply a sexual orientation.

Picture
As a Thank You Gift, Carl gave all the presenters a bottle of Red Wine.

"I don't mean anything by that bottle," says Carl.

The bottle is labelled "Menage A Trois."  Sure, Carl.  Sure!

Below you can see my last slide, where I brought the historical survey to the present by touching on my own experience as a male-bodied Two-Spirit person.
