There are quite a few Two-Spirit and LGBT organizations that serve the indigenous community spread out across Turtle Island, AKA North America.

I have a lot of respect for the NorthEast Two-Spirit Society because it was when they hosted the 25th International Two-Spirit Gathering last year in Wading River, New York, that I first made friends with this community of amazing, caring, and talented people.

NE2SS has compiled a fabulous Directory of Resources that includes books, films, and contact information for these organizations across the land.

I've been a member of the Film, Recording & Entertainment Council since 2006.  This economic development organization is concerned with cultivating business leads and community for those that work in the entertainment industry.

Carl is the Director of Pecha Kucha Miami, and is an active member of the Arts Community of South Florida.

Robin is an Artist and Missionary who spent much of her life and ministry in Manila and the Philippines by bringing a Christian message to the sex workers there.

Please join the “Anthropology through Film” class in welcoming Houston R. Cypress, a member of the Otter Clan and the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, and executive producer of the television program “Miccosukee Magazine.”

Houston will present his perspectives on Native American use of media, the history and production of “Miccosukee Magazine TV,” and issues facing Native people today.

Currently two of his videos are in competition at the 2013 imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival, in Toronto, Canada.  He will talk about the latest news and issues direct from this well-respected event for global Indigenous arts.

The course “Anthropology Through Film: Indigenous Voices, Issues and Perspectives” is taught by Dr. Dennis Wiedman in the Department of Global and Sociocultural Studies.
